NaNoWriMo
Have you ever heard of this? I hadn’t, or at least I hadn’t remembered that I had, until last night. For some reason instead of listening to my normal audiobook options when I went to Walmart by myself, I tapped back into Fast-Draft Your Memoir: Write Your Life Story in 45 Hours. Within the first fifteen minutes she brings up the writing challenge that helped launch her career by jump-starting her into writing volume. Sounds like the kind of help I need, although like everyone else I have no idea where to find the time. The mashup word is short for National Novel Writers Month, which is apparently November. As you’ll notice…as I write this it’s currently very early in that very month.
There is a website for this challenge, so last night I signed up. Pressure is the only way that I ever produce anything of value, written or otherwise. In case you’re interested, here is the NaNoWriMo site. It’s been enticing writers for over twenty years at this point, and it would seem that just last year nearly half a million writers attempted the effort. (Apparently over 10% were even successful!)
What will I write about? Well, my brother, of course. The kid who made me notreallyakidperson. More on that later. Just wanted to invite you to write with me this month, if you dare!
